“ Loved this place! Hop Yik Tai has super fresh rice noodle rolls made daily – you can really taste how good they are. You can sit inside or just eat by the street, both have a nice local vibe. It was my first time trying rice noodle rolls and I was really impressed. Great taste, fair prices – I’ll definitely come back for more! ”
“ Busy HK atmosphere, nothing bad about it. Nice and clean. Customer friendliness is still something HK people need to learn, especially in this restaurant. All the yelling, but also at customers. Seems like they have no patience at all. The food wasn't great either. The taste of their cheung fan, preserved egg and porridge was ok, but I really didn't like their meatballs and siu mai. ”
“ Hop Yick Tai is a wonderful little spot for classic Hong Kong local snacks. The rice rolls were really good — tender and delicious, making them the highlight of the meal. The beef balls were okay, but the fish balls and pig skin were very good, packed with flavour and great texture. The iced soy milk tasted good and was a refreshing drink to go with the food. The service was full of human warmth, with staff who were genuinely friendly and attentive. The space has been newly renovated and is well-lit, though it is a little bit cramped. The only downside is that only cash is accepted. Overall, this is a great place for authentic, affordable local eats with a cozy, welcoming vibe. ”
“ This was the first place I visited the moment I landed in Hong Kong. Took the first express train out from HKIA and arrived here before 7am. It was already pretty crowded and I managed to get the last empty table. Here to try the cheong fun and the congee. Ordered the raw beef and told it is a must try. First had the cheong fun, it was normal, not fantastic but I just liked the old school taste. Noticed something wrong that I forgot to add the sweet sauce because they only added the peanut sauce by default. The highlight for me was definitely the raw beef congee. The beef slices were really raw and cooked by the heat of the congee. It was really good and the beef was so tender and soft and could just feel it melt in the mouth. The congee was actually plain but managed to taste the flavours of the beef and how I envy the locals get to eat such good and comforting food in the morning. Definitely warms the body especially on a chilling morning. What I also liked about this place is it's cosy, not too many people to the extent of needing to share tables and it's definitely not noisy because people were just quietly enjoying and savouring the food. Great food and thumbs up! ”
“ The cheung fun is steaming hot, smooth, and firm but not hard. The sauces (soy sauce, sweet sauce, and peanut sauce) are too watery, but fortunately still retain a degree of flavour. When combined, both the cheung fun and the sauces end up surprisingly well put together. Yes, the cheung fun is not bad, possibly above average, but is it good enough to reach the point where people are willing to queue up for this street food? Maybe so. Or perhaps the food traffic is driven by curiosity. ”
